I’ve been leading up to this on my FB page for a couple weeks now, and it’s been in my head for several days straight, so I guess it’s time to make it officially known!
I’m in an apprenticeship to become a Shaman of The Way through EISEN (more information here). I’m not at a point within it yet that I can start seeing my own clients yet, but that day is coming soon!
I’ve been keeping it quiet because I’ve been nervous, for a lot of reasons. I chose this time to open up because it really feels like it’s time, and my guides have been screaming at me to write, so I need to, and most of my experiences lately have been related to the transformational process of the apprenticeship. I’m so excited to be able to write freely about it now!
Some of the reasons I’ve been nervous about opening up, in no particular order:
- Concern of cultural appropriation with the term “shaman” in Western paganism,
- The issues with the propagation of unethical “shamans” in the field
- Fear of being outed to friends and family (one of these days that’s going to have to happen anyway)
- Not having a real plan together (still working on my official site for this work) for taking clients etc
- And probably some others that I can’t think of right off the top of my head.
I’ll be writing addressing the first two for sure, as those are important to me. The others are still kind of fears, but they’re things that need to be taken care of one way or another, and posting this is forcing me into accountability, to an extent.
My goal with this work is to do a lot to help the Earth recover from all the trauma we as humans have inflicted on it. I feel like it goes well with my other studies and work toward druidry, and fits well within that framework, from what I have learned.
For now, once I start, I’ll be taking personal (one on one) clients for what I call “winnowing.” Winnowing is a term given to me directly from my guides, to reflect the journey work I do – the act of going into trance to remove things that are not supposed to be in your energy field, and to restore any missing parts that are. I can work with humans or pets. There are no drugs or other mind altering substances involved.
Over time, as I get to know the land where I currently reside, and the surrounding areas, I’d like to work with homeowners, farmers and ranchers to create a more reciprocal relationship with it. I’m not sure how this would look in practice, but I’ll have answers by the time I’m ready to do this work.
I will still be working with and teaching reiki, and I am still developing the official Learning Eunoia program that has been percolating for years now. I also am an ordained minister with the Universal Life Church, and would like to develop a series of Rites of Passage that would incorporate the rest of my work, as well as the obvious legal ability to marry people.
Thank you for being here with me and joining me on my journey of Learning Eunoia!
